The rate of infections increased by 4.2% between today and yesterday. This is slightly higher than previous days but still in the moderate range. The percentage increase in deaths between April 29 and April 30 was 4.1%, considerably lower than the change reported by ODH for yesterday's 17%  spike in fatalities.

Comparison of fatalities for April 30 and April 23 shows a 319 count increase (48.6%). Deaths in Pickaway surged from 5 to 21 (320%) for the week, while deaths in Marion only increased by 1.

Analysis of fatalities to date by sex and age reveals that 54.5% of fatalities were male and that only 16 out of 975 deaths were accounted for by Ohioans younger than 50. More than half of all fatalities (50.3%)were 80 and older.

  1. I have noticed that in the past two days that there is a significant increase in deaths in Hamilton, Lucas, Mahoning, Pickaway and Stark counties. Do you think a spike is likely to occur in the other counties with large incarcerated population(s)?

  2. They have increased testing in our correctional facilities which may be reflected in the spike in numbers.
